Making Space for Abundance

Julie Murphy • October 11, 2010

I love the old saying “out with the old, in with the new”.  I believe that in order to achieve true abundance in your life you need to make space for the things that you desire.  By releasing negative thoughts about what you deserve you create the space for abundance. Let’s examine how we can align our life and our financial goals accordingly:

•    Start by figuring out what you are passionate about TODAY and get busy living your life from that vantage point moving forward.  A great reference to peel apart to find your strengths and get busy using them is “Strengths Finder 2.0” by Tom Rath.  Remember, “The pathway to your financial abundance is through your own authenticity.”

•    Start to create space in your life for the new to come in

o    Emotional Space – Remove what I call the “Crabs in Your Bucket,” those outside influences that can get in the way of your life dreams and financial goals.

o    Physical Space – Decide how many bags of “stuff” you have in your home, donate to a local charity and get a tax deduction before year end.

o    Financial Space – Write down your current cash outflow (your expenses).  Decide if  they are all priorities for you.  If not, chop them out….create your financial space. Then intentionally shift that money each month towards your dreams and desires.

Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught that putting ourselves first was selfish.
That choosing rest meant we were lazy.
That saying “no” made us difficult.
That wanting more — peace, abundance, joy — was somehow wrong.
