Today I want to talk to you about how the path to becoming financially independent will come with many tests and it certainly isn’t a linear journey!
Many people think that it’s simply about money. That it’s about staying within a strict ‘budget’ and taking all the ‘right’ actions financially.
The thing is, to be financially independent and to ride the sometimes bumpy path that comes along with that, we have to approach our money from a far more holistic perspective.
What does this look like?
The journey to financial independence means listening to your heart and
then bringing in the smarts.
It means keeping your nervous system in neutral so that your physical body and state of health don’t suffer as a consequence of your financial choices.
It means paying attention to your inner self-talk and working on shifting any limited beliefs around money.
It means surrounding yourself with loving, positive, aligned, and healthy relationships.
Now, I don’t believe we can ever achieve a perfect balance of everything. There will always be one pillar of our lives that we’re paying more attention to and intention than others.
This could be your health, working through a relationship, or setting intentions and actions to change careers.
It could also be working towards financial freedom.
But ultimately, financial independence is about personal expansion.
I’m so passionate about what I do because this is about
so much more than money. When I work with clients, it’s incredible to see their soul and personal evolution blossom and to witness them
making financial choices (and reaping the rewards of those choices!) that truly come from the heart.
To see them feel released from the constraints of a budget that never worked for them.
To see them choosing to unplug from what they feel they ‘should’ be doing in favor of trusting their inner wisdom.
To see them create space in their lives for expansion to occur.
(I talk a great deal about this in my new book,
The 4 Spiritual Laws of Money if you’re curious to hear more about my framework.)
To be financially independent, it’s also about being patient and learning to take things in your stride. To choose to see the world through an observation lens. This is important because it provides you with a conscious response to the events of your life.
I want to remind each and every one of you reading this that the path to personal expansion and life of Real Wealth is not linear. And I know, this can drive that left brain of yours crazy!
Your ego mind will try with all its might to hijack you and steer you in another direction that puts you right back into the patterning that has created your life up to this point.
That could look like returning to debt instruments and within a financial suffering cycle, compromising your health, or engaging in toxic relationships.
When you fully
dedicate yourself to this journey, let me assure you, it will never unfold as you thought it would! So you have to find peace by detaching from those outcomes.
Your only job is to set the intentions, but then release how they show up. We all get stuck in the “how” it is all going to happen, especially for those of us who might call ourselves somewhat of a ‘control freak’!
How do I know? Because I too have an incredible inner control freak. It’s an area I’ve had to work incredibly hard on releasing but when I do and when I’m open to how things show up, I’m rewarded every single time and often in ways that far surpass my expectations!
The key is to be easy on yourself. Allow yourself to be on that bridge and put the energy of what matches your desires out into the world. This is going to be tricky if you’re reacting instead of observing.
Think of it like flashing your inner lighthouse in alignment with your desire!
To help with this you can implement practices such as writing a letter to release what needs to be released in your life, or what needs to shift. I encourage you to then read it out loud or even burn it (safely of course!)
You could also create a personal altar to build up a personal energy vortex for what you want to create and attract into your life.
I know that most financial planners won’t tell you to engage in practices such as these, but they are what help to really move the needle with your finances and your journey to financial freedom!
My overall message and wish for you today is to embrace this path fully. To know that achieving financial independence where you’re living a life of joy on all levels, will come with its tests and challenges. Please trust that these only exist to steer you in the true direction of your desires.
