Let me ask; are you wondering how to reach your financial goals but frustrated because you can’t seem to stick to a budget?
Month after month, when money seems to go out the door faster than it comes in, are you filled with blame, shame, guilt and judgement?
If so, I hear you! And what I’m going to say next might surprise you……
I want you to backdoor your budget. Yes, you heard me right! If you’re the type of person who doesn’t care to meticulously monitor what comes in and out every month because it feels too restricted, let’s park that idea and instead, choose something that makes you feel more expansive.
Why? This will help you move forwards in your life and your finances, whilst holding a safe container for yourself. A big reason why saving money is important, is because aside from the freedom that comes with building wealth, it also helps us shine a light on how our emotions are playing out through our money.
Ready for one of my major tips on how to save money, while helping you identify some of that emotion around your money?
If you’re regularly using your credit card to pay for something, try paying cash for that same item instead.
This is a powerful exercise and an immediate way to start saving money because when we slide a credit card, we don’t internalize it emotionally.
It doesn’t drop into our system or trigger any emotions. Dropping a $100 bill - well, that’s a different feeling entirely, right? That lands in our emotions and we experience a whole new thought and emotional process about what we’re choosing to spend it on.
Give it a try!
I now want to tell you something else that will probably surprise you……
The shame, blame, guilt and judgement you feel has nothing to do with your budget.
These emotions exist because there’s something from your childhood trying to come up and it’s manifesting through your cash flows. So how do we shift this? How do we take you from a place of restriction to one of expansion and see those numbers in your bank accounts building?
Let’s start by being more aware of your perspective. Backdooring your budget is about reframing. Try asking yourself instead ‘How do I want my cash to flow’?
What does this do? Well, it shifts you from a place of ‘I can’t do it’ to ‘Oh, now I see that I am the controller of my life and I
do get to choose.’
Step into the story that you choose, instead of the one you’re choosing to be a victim of. It’s as simple as that.
I’ve seen this time and time again. People stay trapped in the story of how hard it is to save for retirement or for the future, yet when it’s time for those big heartfelt purchases such as getting married or buying their first home, they find the money every single time.
Why? They stepped into their power because their heart sang and they decided to shift their perspective and make different choices instead of being on autopilot, when we’re not always choosing the life we desire.
I’m fiercely passionate about helping you choose the life you desire through these alternative shifts in perspective. This forms the entire basis of my
Julie Murphy brand because I understand just how pivotal it is!
So, let me ask you; are you ready to own who you are? Are you ready to step into what makes you feel expansive?
What if instead of feeling tied to a budget, you make sure you’re simply choosing not to build up more debt? You’re choosing to not plug into more scarcity and saying screw it to the banks controlling your life.
You deserve a life of Real Wealth and you are the only one who can step into that energy and embody it.
Now, instead of a budget, let’s create more
awareness about where your money is coming in and where it’s going out. Writing that down can be helpful but you see, when you shift your perspective entirely on what you want to create instead of remaining in the story of scarcity, you can do this exercise and create that awareness from a place of neutrality.
It’s as simple as asking where do you want your money to go? Perhaps now, carving off a little from your monthly spending so you can allocate that elsewhere towards something that feels expansive, won’t feel like restriction. Instead, it will feel empowering.
Why is this such a profound shift when asking how to reach your financial goals?
It creates a safe container to give you less money to spend each month. It safely helps you get used to living off a lower amount each month to allocate space for what you
truly want, in your heart.
One of my core ‘how to save money rules’ is just that; building the safe container to keep your nervous system in neutral.
It’s so important that we pay attention to
what’s going on in our nervous system and get back to the energy of neutrality. So, I also want you to tap into that and trust your own body intelligence.
You might be wondering what the hell that has to do with your money and again, I hear you!
When you trust your body and when your cortisol is regulated, the financial adjustments will be no problem. You’ll see! You’ll refrain from contracting because when you contract and you have all that cortisol shooting through your body, you block things coming to you. Your manifestations can’t unfold through a contracted system.
This is also why I’m relentless about helping you see why saving money is important. It’s so much more than money. It helps us tune in to our body’s wisdom and regulate our nervous system to make more
empowered
financial choices that feel expansive, exciting and joyful on every level. It’s where the quantum leaps really start to happen!
So, let’s get you to that place of Real Wealth and reach those big financial goals of yours! And of course, if you want to go deeper, be sure to take a look at my
books and courses.
I’ll see you back here next week.
And as always, if there’s someone you know who needs to hear this, I’d be so grateful if you shared it with them.
Love,
Julie
